MechDesigner packs a complete set of design tools to help you design, simulate and analyze machines that have complex mechanisms and motions when they are driven by cams or servomotors.
Mechanism Design: design one or many, simple and complex mechanisms, in an intuitive way. Simply add parts, connect with joints, edit their lengths, locate their positions, add motions to different parts and create your desired mechanisms. When you follow a few simple rules, MechDesigner compiles your mechanism into the kinematic-chains with closed-form solutions, in all motion derivatives, which you can easily edit. The mechanism design is not limited to Parts and Joints. You can also add Gear-Pairs, Rack & Pinions, Belt & Pulleys, Ball-Screws.
Cam Design: design one or many, planar and spatial cams. Types include plate cams,, groove cams, conjugate cams, cycloidal cams, globoidal cams, barrel cams, cylindrical, ... in fact all cam types, with rotary and linear motions of the cam and cam follower, with any shape of the follower. Cam profiles are solved directly from the motion of the cam-follower, which you can enter directly, or allow MechDesigner to find it from the motion you design for the end-effector, or tooling, and the powerful inverse-kinematics capabilities.
Motion-Design: design one or many motions, with one or many segments, for planar and spatial motion our motion simulation software is world-beating for motion simulation and cam linkage simulation. Because it is completely embedded with MechDesigner, when you edit each motion, you instantly and effortlessly update tooling motion, even while the machine simulation is cycling.
Simulation: MechDesigner combines motion simulation, cam simulation and mechanism linkage simulation into one powerful kinematic simulation software package for machines with many complex and interacting mechanisms.
Kinematics: MechDesigner encapsulates all of the above. All the kinematics of all of the mechanisms, for each motion-derivative, is solved in one program 'pass', using inverse-kinematics [sometimes called reverse kinematics] or with forward-kinematics. You can design and add motions to any part [even virtual parts], anywhere in the mechanism, and also add cams anywhere in the kinematic-chain. You do not need to know any mathematics, as MechDesigner does all of the 'hard' stuff. You can measure, plot, export the linear or angular position, velocity, and acceleration of any part, or between any two parts. You can plot and export this data of course, for any other analysis. You can use any measurement as the input motion to any other mechanism, or kinematic-chain. There is so much more, it is best to look at the MechDesigner Features.
Robotics: Pick and Place Robots, which include Gantry, SCARA, and 2D Delta Robot, are easily added to the machine simulation with MechDesigner. You simply design the robot yourself: simply add the parts and joints. You can design the motion for the tooling as a path and then the motion along the path, or you can design motion for the tooling parametrically. The principles you use for mechanism design and simulation are equally applied to the robot design and simulation.
Feed Srew Design - is one of the many tools that we include with MechDesigner. Feeds screws control the motion of a pack or bottle as it moves from a conveyor into rotary, labelling or capping machine.
Unlike most CAD, MechDesigner does not use 'minimize-error' functions that can take multiple passes of each algorithm.
