Case Packers, Rotary Labellers, Fillers
Case Packers usually have mechanisms to erect or form the case, load the product, and then glue and close all the panels. This is typical in many Packaging Machines. The mechanisms can be a mixture of cams with cam-followers, air-cylinders and servo motors.
This simple example design starts with modeling the Case Erection in MechDesigner. The opening of the pre-glued, side-seam case and then closure of panels can be phased correctly by designing and simulating their motions using MotionDesigner. The mechanisms can then be designed around the desired motion of the case.

Multi-Axis Machine DesignMany Machine OEM's apply air cylinders to apply many of the motions. This pragmatic approach will manage to erect, load and seal the case, but will create a sub-optimal machine. The motion design and control of air-cylinders is minimal. The cylinder valve will open, but in general little is known at design time what motion the rod will follow or how it will interact with the product. A case packer driven by air-cylinders is ideal to the PLC automation commissioning engineer where the machine is operated by triggering I/O to fire off the air-cylinders. Howev Read more >>> |
